ride:well across america south tour

The Ride:Well Across America South Tour is a 3,000-mile supported trip that starts on the shores of the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, California and ends at the Atlantic Ocean in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The team will have a support vehicle to carry the all the gear and promotional materials. Throughout the tour the team will be stopping at churches and community centers to share the vision of Blood:Water Mission while raising support for their clean water and clean blood initiatives in Africa.

Trip Details

Dates: June 2nd - July 26th, 2010

Participants: 17 maximum

Challenge Level: Intermediate - strenuous but most determined people can do it

Support Level: Supported Tour - A 15-passenger van with a trailer will accompany the team throughout the tour. Team members will be able to store their gear and personal belongings in the trailer.

Inclusions: experienced leaders, accommodations, food, support vehicle, tour coordination, apparel

Exclusions: travel to San Diego, California (where the trip begins) and from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (where the trip ends), bike and personal gear, spending money

Lodging: churches, hotels, camping, host homes

Trip Cost: $4,245, we will provide you with resources to help you fundraise for the tour

Additional Donation to Blood:Water Mission: $1,000, we will provide you with resources to help you fundraise for Blood:Water Mission

Route: The 3,000-mile route starts at the Pacific Ocean and takes you through four mountain ranges, four time zones and nine states across the southern United States and ends in the Atlantic Ocean.

Goals:

We desire to capitalize on the momentum and interest generated from the Ride:Well Tour in 2008 & 2009 to raise funds and awareness for Blood:Water Mission by offering a cross-country bicycle tour that will:

  • raise $40,000 or more for clean water and clean blood initiatives in Africa,
  • strengthen established community relationships from the Ride:Well Tour in 2008 & 2009,
  • initiate new community relationships and support from other parts of the United States,
  • partner with our African friends to educate individuals and communities in North America about the difficult social and economic issues Africans face on a daily basis,
  • provide opportunities for Blood:Water Mission advocates/supporters to participate in a campaign,
  • increase Blood:Water Mission's sphere of influence, donor base and social network.
