Welcome, Josias!

Profile Information

About Me:
Hey there! My name is Josias (most people call me Josiah). Although I was born in Brazil, I am American legally and culturally. I'm a firm believer that there is more to life than what meets the eye. And after this life, there is more to come. I have chosen to also believe in a just and loving God. Is it easy? No. I have also decided to try to understand and follow Jesus of Nazareth. Is it easy? No. Yet, in my opinion, these are the best decisions I've ever made. As I continue to seek God and the answers to my many questions, I tend to take two steps back for every three steps forward. If you ever tried to walk a mile like this, it takes a while. It's not easy. However, in the process, I am becoming transformed from the inside out. It's a slow process, but I know it's working.
Why I'm involved in Venture Expeditions:
Every time I am stripped of all my stuff and my comforts and I have a goal to love, something good always happens. Day after day I have been realizing that it really makes sense to sacrifice for others.

Here's a little story that has affected the way I live: There were 10 brothers who lived in a small town. One was rich and feasted until sickness (overweight). The other nine were poor and became weak and sick from malnutrition. Now the father of the brothers came to visit the one rich man and scolded him for not loving his brothers. So the one rich brother sacrificed his wealth and luxury to provide for his brothers, yet even though he was not able to constantly feast, he actually became healthier because he ate the proper amount. The father was then pleased to find all his sons healthy and nourished. The end. Let us please our Father.

I'd rather play guitar than blog

This tour does not leave much free time for relaxing, sleeping or blogging. Yet, I’ve found myself not actually wanting to blog. Today, when I had the time to tell everyone about what I’ve been up to by blogging, I decided to pick up a guitar instead and make music. Previously, I was saying that I don’t blog because I don’t have the time for it. Yet, I think that I just don’t want to do it. While blogging, I feel a bit strange writing about myself.… Continue

Josephine

After we had arrived at our stopping place, a high school in McLaughlin, SD (a city on a Native American reservation), Rachel was approached by a lady while she was out by our van. The lady had recognized one of our sponsors listed on our van, North Central University, and was curious about who we were and what we were doing. Her name was Josephine and she was so sweet and kind. She was a part of the Assemblies of God church. She wanted to help us in any way possible. She would have cooked us… Continue

Finally writing again

I’m sorry for not writing, it’s very hectic when you’re leading a cycling tour from Seattle to NYC.

On Monday June 14th, I with 8 other team members (note: there are a total of 14 people on the team) left MN to drive to Seattle. We are on a journey to bike from Seattle to NYC to raise money and awareness to prevent human trafficking. The initial drive was long and tiresome, but it was a great time to get to know my team members. We were welcomed into the Seattle area by an… Continue

Thus far

Thus far: I drove out to Seattle with most of my team. On the way we were very blessed by a grandma and grandpa who didn't even know us. They treated the team like their own grand kids. They took us out for dinner, let us sleep in their house and cooked us breakfast. Later, we spoke at World Vision. We went through training. We had pizza in Seattle. We started our tour. We biked up and up and up We made a snow man at Stevens Pass. That means we biked high enough to be in snow. SNOW!!!! Tonight… Continue

From Israel to the U.S.

I just returned back to Minnesota after spending 3.5 weeks in Israel and Jordan. I was taking a Historical Geography grad school course through Jerusalem University College. I traveled throughout Jordan and Israel studying the land, ancient sites and the history that has played out there. It was an eye opening experience that will remain with me for the rest of my days.

Since my…
