A few facts about this crazy beautiful adventure we call the Just+Hope North Bike Tour

Right now, it is hard for me to put all of my thoughts into a couple organized, eloquent paragraphs, with a poignant introduction and a heart-warming ending. But for the sake of memories that shouldn't be lost and feelings that need to be recognized, I need to post a blog now. Unfortunately, I am resorting to bullet points, stating the facts, the things I know to be true at this moment. Enjoy.

*My team is awesome. Yes, I am in awe of them. It is so exciting to witness the way that these riders, each one very different from the others, bring with a similar passion their very unique stories which collide into one beautiful adventure.

*I am humbled to lead this team. To think of the privilege I have to cheer each of the riders on as they think new thoughts and feel new feelings and need new things and to laugh and cry with them, sometimes all at once, amazes me. At the same time, though, I feel very inadequate. And the fact is, I am inadequate. But thankfully, God somehow decided that he wanted to take my life and who I am, and, infusing it with his power and compassion, do a mighty work. And as long as I daily surrender, I cannot wait to see what he will do.

*Seattle is cold. And hilly. Both much more than I anticipated. But it is also more beautiful than I anticipated. And I did expect it to be beautiful. It's just that it kind of blew my mind. The drive from Minneapolis to Seattle was breathtaking. And even though we drove through the night and it certainly wasn't glamorous, it was amazing. The conversations were as beautiful as the views, and I would not change anything about it.

*Already, ordinary families have given so much. A Norwegian family (we call them Grandma and Grandpa) in Auburn, WA, who did not even know we were coming until an hour before, gave us beds, showers, laundry, dinner, and breakfast. They were so fun and had such interesting stories, and the team had a great time interacting with them. Oh, and they had the coolest teeter-totter ever, too. Now we are being hosted by Sammamish Presbyterian Church. They have graciously given us a lot of space for training, cooking and sleeping, and have provided four homes for showering and doing laundry. One of those homes also prepared a fantastic breakfast for the team this morning. Each day God blows us away with all sorts of blessings, and we are inexpressibly grateful.

That's it for now, I think. More to come.

Sincerely,

Erin
