Well we're heading to Turkey in just a couple days. I'm actually flying out of this great city of minneapolis on Friday and should arrive in Istanbul on Saturday. This will be my first time flying with a bike and I'm hoping it arrives the same time I do.

Our trip is the shortest cycling trip Venture has this summer and I think I've let that fact influence my training a bit more than I should have. I did get out for a couple nice rides with one of my teammates Tim down in Des Moines about a week ago and Saturday I rode with Tyler, Todd, and Mike (3 guys going on the Northern J+H tour). That ride felt like a typical tour ride, by that I mean we got hungry and had to stop at Subway for energy, ran into a closed trail and had to re-route, spent half and hour patching a tube with 4 holes in it (how does a tube get 4 holes at once!?) then the valve broke off the tube and we had to throw it away, after we got rolling again the sun was sinking and we decided instead of finishing our planned route we'd just head downtown minneapolis and look at the mississippi river and the dam. We were planning on riding about 50-60 and ended up doing about 20...oh well. At least we had a great time.

Anyway, back to Turkey. We might have days like that in Turkey and I guess if we do we'll just roll with it.

More to come...
