Today was awesome. I really could just leave it at that. But I won't. We hit up KDS secondary school again today for some more bench making and painting. Our goal is to have 10 benches done by tomorrow. we are 3 2/3 benches away from meeting that goal. 10 may not sound like a lot but when you consider that each of us has had to learn how to create something out of nothing it really is a big deal. 10 benches will eventually turn into 40 benches which will mean that these kids will have a place to sit and eat lunch rather than stand and they will not have to drag their classroom chairs into the auditorium for assemblies. Something kind of sad happened today though. One of our team members got a piece of wood stuck in his eye while he was using the circular saw. He tried to power through it but after about an hour (or more) it was decided that he should go to the doc. So he did. Thankfully no major damage was done but for the time being we have various jokes about his one good eye. He was a real trouper though. And I think the whole team realized what it meant to loose just one member. We function as a body and when you loose a limb it really hinders you. We are glad that Tim is okay and he will be functional tomorrow.

After an afternoon of working we had an assembly for the kids at KDS so that we could each talk to them about our hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro. We started the assembly with some worship songs. This was, by far, the highlight of my day. When they worship they are so full of life. They dance and clap and everybody is singing praises to the Lord. They get it. They have nothing but they give everything. It's a beautiful thing.
For the talks, each of us had a different theme so that we would not bore the kids with the same story 10 times over. It was really great to hear everybody's interpretation of the climb and what it meant to them specifically. God works in so many creative glorious ways. My only wish is that we could have done this earlier in the week because as soon as the assembly was over it was like a door between us and the students was opened and they had a whole new desire to talk to us about their dreams and goals. Tomorrow will be our last day with them and they are set to put on a show for us. I'm beyond excited about this.
