Here's the scoop: We're in Seattle. It's a beautiful town perched on steep hills swathed in evergreens. I've been tweeting and updating my Facebook statuses like a crazy fellow. The bikes are almost all roadworthy. In an hour the team will be assembled.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to Melissa, Torgeir, and Helen Hauglund for putting us up on Tuesday night. We called Melissa when we were an hour outside of Seattle to see if she knew a place we could camp free, and she put us in touch with her grandparents. They had us stay in their home, took us all out to dinner, fed us breakfast, and blessed us all immensely. It was an incredible way to start a tour, and I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to Melissa, Torgeir, and Helen for their generosity.
The van, which I want to call the Ghost Ride and others "Dan", has been slowly losing a smell it acquired Tuesday. We were in the forest just west of the Snoqualmie Pass and someone stepped in something...well, it had been digested before. They got into the van before anyone knew what had happened, and as a result the van has smelled of "poo shoes" for the last couple days.
Just+Hope is hoping (get it?) to throw down a rap in keeping with this year's new tradition. Check out our brothers on the Ride:Well Tour spittin they rhymes:
