Although it's almost Midnight and I'm exhausted from lack of sleep, I find myself overwhelmed with a sense of excitement and anticipation as I look forward to the next 3.5 months for Venture. Although I myself am not embarking on one specific tour, I've been intertwined into the lives of each team member as they have sacrificed and planned for their own life changing trip. I'm not usually one for posting blogs, but I can't help but jot down a few words as the tours head out...

This summer will be a time that each team member will never forget. Even if they have participated in some form of an international or stateside missions trip before, this adventure that they are about to embark on is unique and will be life changing in a way that no other trip will ever be like. There is something that God is doing in the hearts and lives of our team members this year that will consume every inch of who they are through out their individual trips that God has me thinking about tonight.

I remember the very first night of my first Venture Trip. It was 2005, I had no idea what I was in for, but something deep inside of me knew that by simply stepping out in faith and giving up 5 weeks of my life, my agenda, and my focus would change me for the rest of my life. I didn't know how I would change, but I knew that something new was being born. I had that anxious feeling of excitement and anticipation for what lay ahead of me.

I feel that same feeling tonight as I prepare to head off to bed. I have that same anxious feeling of excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead this summer for each one of our team members. The Turkey Team is in the air as we speak, flying to Istanbul and I just finished calling a Kilimanjaro Team Member, who after 3.5 days of travel, 2 red eye flights, 1 over night bus ride down a terrible road in Western Kenya, has finally reached a country he has never visited before, to meet up with a ministry he has no personal connection to, yet is giving his time and energy to serve because he has that same anxious feeling of excitement and anticipation for what God has in store for him.

That's what Venture Trips are all about. Having no clue what you're getting yourself into, but knowing that whatever comes your way, it's you and God on a crazy awesome adventure, and of all the people to go on an adventure, HE's the best one to go with!

As the tours start and our team members fly out to their trip starting locations, My prayer is that God would birth in them that same anxious feeling of excitement and anticipation. That in faith, they would leap into the unkown of this summer with and excitement for what God is about to do in their lives, and an eager anticipation to see HIM move in an amazing way this summer.

So in the words of the movie Mortal Kombat... "IT HAS BEGUN!!!"
